Good and busy day today. Early morning harvest of salad greens and garlic before two garden lessons this afternoon.

Worked with Metanoia's Young Leaders and Civic Leaders this afternoon. The Young Leaders are learning about growing food to restore a garden at an abandoned school in the neighborhood.

The Civic Leaders are getting a crash course in permaculture to help restructure and maintain the community garden.

Lessons at both sites dealt with observation of what was already built and growing and figuring out what the kids wanted to grow and how to keep productive using low maintenance techniques.

I packed a freshly washed salad and homemade ranch dressing from a neighbor's sister's recipe and the Civic Leaders loved it!

Not only will we be growing young gardeners in North Charleston but I'm moving closer to restoring my old gardeners bod, thanks to the workout I'm getting by riding my bike to each of the sites.

Final bonus, it just started raining so the lettuce and herbs we harvested should replace itself even quicker than normal.

We'll keep you posted on the progress.  Hope you have a Happy St. Patrick's Day!
